If you have children under the age of 18, the Government of Canada may be able to help you with some of the costs of raising them. This monthly tax-free payment is called the Canada Child Tax Benefit and is run by Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA). The Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) is a tax-free monthly payment that is based on your family income. The CCTB provides money to help with the costs of raising children under the age of 18.

The amount that you get each month is based on several factors, such as:
  • your family income
  • the number of children you have and their ages
  • where in Canada that you live When you apply, you must provide proof of your Canadian immigration status, and proof of birth for any of your children born outside of Canada.
